Rod Paton, D.Phil
is a composer, horn player, writer and community musician. As a jazz and improvising horn player, he has performed with many of Europe’s leading players including broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and appearances in the Czech Republic, Germany and Finland. The CD of his Ascension Jazzmass was described in Jazz Journal International as “a memorable document of the human spirit at its open-hearted and affirmative best” and his book, “Living Music”, about improvisation as a community art was described by one reviewer as a “goldmine”. He is a director of Sound Sense, the professional association for community musicians, and a senior lecturer in music at the University of Chichester. He is also the originator of the Lifemusic method, running workshops and training courses throughout the UK and beyond.
